he Flash XDR from Convergent Design is a revolutionary new, portable, Compact Flash based HD recorder/player, recently winning Best of Show at IBC from TVB-Europe magazine.
With four CompactFlash slots and two analog XLR audio inputs, you can connect any HD-SDI source via BNC coax (up to 150 metres) to the Flash XDR. Power comes from an industry standard four pin XLR connector.
Use internal or external time-code source; the internal real-time clock will automatically add date and time information. Turn on the Flash XDR and notice the instant start-up and silent operation. Record some video to one of the four hot-swappable CompactFlash cards. Start your edit session by forcing a card eject (the box will automatically start recording to the next card). Quickly transfer the Quicktime file to your laptop editor using a Firewire-800 reader. Now “edit while you (continue to) shoot", productively using your laptop as an editing tool, avoiding lengthy ingests from the old FireWire direct-to-laptop capture method.
