Eurotek today announced that BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) has invested in Autodesk's media and entertainments Discreet Flint. The Discreet Flint, supplied and installed by Eurotek, will be based at BBC Belfast headquarters.
The advanced graphics system will allow the in house graphics team to create stunning visual effects on either SD or HD projects that they are currently working on.
Commenting on the purchase, BBC Belfast, "Prior to purchasing Discreet Flint, we thoroughly investigated the market for an advanced compositor. Our current Quantel equipment did not match our new requirements. Discreet Flint fitted our needs" One of the things that amazed us from the outset was its true 3D compositing features. We currently use Autodesk Maya as our 3d program and we hope to see seamless interoperability between both programs.
"It's hoped that Discreet Flint will help us create superior visual effects for building broadcast content material, opening titles, sequences and promotional material"
With the addition of Furnace and Sapphire sparks on the Linux Based Flint system, BBC are now equipped with the one of the worlds most advanced digital compositors
Commenting on the install, Lee Griffin of Eurotek, "We are delighted that yet another national broadcaster has chosen Autodesk media and entertainments advanced systems to create stunning Visual effects. BBC again are pushing the boundaries in terms of content creation and we hope to see the fruits if their work very soon
